Drumline LIVE!

We have the privilege of having an amazing theater here in Orange that produces great shows! They usually have New York shows (on a smaller scale) come and perform. We saw Drumline LIVE last night and it was amazing! It was produced by the gentleman that did the movie; DRUMLINE. This was right up Collin's alley. They had 8 acts with an intermission and the finale was the best! A drum-off. The stage was full of 55 of the best band members from Black Colleges & Universities. It's a shame we don't take advantage of going to the theater more often since it's "in our backyard". On our to do list............

Bummed Knee

I got a phone call from the athletic trainer on Monday during last period. Collin had his left knee iced down and the trainer was concerned about an injury to his knee. He was quite the trooper while she maneuvered it around. We had an appointment with an orthopedic dr. yesterday and THANK GOODNESS it's not his ACL. Whew! He has a bad contusion that will keep him on crutches for another week. He's pretty bummed about that.

Back to School

It's back to school time.....and for a high school student and teacher that means reviews for semester exams and getting back into the swing of things. Collin had his first soccer tournament last week and GO JUNIOR VARSITY BEARS they won 2, lost 1 and tied 1. We were inducted in the "soccer parents"....sitting in rain in 40 degree weather. Jerry has taken a ton of great pictures which I will need to post on the blog at a later date.

Soccer & Movie

The rain held off for Collin's first soccer game. It drizzled early this a.m. and then cleared up for the duration of his game. "Bed Time Stories" was a real cute movie--we went to the matinee. I'm savoring the last Saturday before returning to work on Monday. Funny how even after 22 years of teaching...I'm like a kid at the end of the holidays....booo! not wanting to go back to school.

Prayer List

Please pray specifically for strength, peace, & healing for my Aunt Carol, our cousin's spouse Bret, and for Brad Wims. These wonderful people are fighting cancer and God needs to hear their names repeatedly. Please lift them up in your daily prayers.

Toyota Center - A&M vs. LSU

Great time! Before Christmas....we took Krista, Brad, Mallarie & Collin to the Toyota Center for a NCAA double header. Good day---- Michigan State beat UT and A&M beat LSU. Okay, okay..... you know us....BIG AGGIE FANS! Sorry HORNS & TIGERS.

Thank Heavens for Holidays and Family

I know my posts are a bit out of order; that goes to show what happens when you don't post for a while.....

Lots of cooking over the holidays..... the house has smelled absolutely deeee-licious. I'm taking a major break now---"fend for yourself" is the motto the past several days.

We had a great holiday with spending time with both sides of our families. Jennifer and family came in from Florida and were with my parents for Christmas week. It has been about 4 years since I've seen my nephews! We had Christmas Eve at our house with Jerry's parents and his girls, drove to my parents for Christmas Day and then had the "Foster Family Christmas" at Jerry's parents after his brother & family came in on Saturday. On Sunday the 28th, we said "WHEW!".

Bowling and Fireworks on New Year's Eve

Jerry and I took Collin and friends bowling on New Year's Eve. We rented them a lane for a couple of hours and then "made ourselves scarce". Crazy, but true....I wanted to go to Barnes and Noble for a few hours to browse at my leisure...uninterrupted by an impatient teen...and THEY WERE CLOSED! Ugh. I guess Barnes and Nobles doesn't feel like they needed to accomodate the WILD PARTY GOERS on New Years Eve such as Jerry & I. HA HA

Collin froze his bootie off popping fireworks in the driveway. As soon as we got home, he immediately shucked his jeans for gym shorts; not a smart move. (only kid in the picture in shorts!)

We had a firework scare! We had purchased a few "biggies" for midnight. There were to be about 40 shots total into the air. Collin lit it at the end of the driveway and immediately the crazy thing started shooting SIDEWAYS about ankle high. We scattered like crazy people! Scarey for me, hilarious to the kids. 'Nough said....we were done after that! We first thought the box fell over, but later realized NO..it must have been faulty.

2009

I certainly don't want to take credit for something a friend wrote in a Christmas card we received this year. Thank you Judy---it is posted on our refrigerator!
"Our wishes for you this year..... Time to slow down and be spent wisely, loving and healthy and helpful kids (and grandkids if applicable), wonderful, fun-loving and obedient pets, patient, wise and super loving spouse, may you be high on the pedestal but not bruise when you fall, a job that you love or at least like a bunch, may you be healthy and graceful as you age, and take time for family---immediate and extended and adopted". (DITTO- Judy)

HAPPY NEW YEAR! 2009
